Medical Work in Guatemala

Lt. Michael Kavanaugh (’05, ’08 M.S.), a Navy entomologist, is a disease vector specialist who uses preventive medicine to protect communities from the dangers of malaria and dengue. His trip to Guatemala during a Continuing Promise 2010 humanitarian mission is an example of how he helps teach local communities about the importance of clean water and the dangers of mosquitoes that carry infectious diseases.
