Video: Lorca in a Green Dress

This fall, UNT  Department of Dance and Theatre produced Lorca in a Green Dress with guest director Teresa Marrero.

The highly poetic play by Nilo Cruz, the first Latino to win the Pulitzer Prize for drama, occurs in a place that doesn't exist  between heaven and earth.

In a Greek classical style with an added twist of being theater within theater, the play begins with the death of poet Federico Garcia Lorca in 1936 when Lorca was abducted and assassinated by Spanish fascists. The poet awakes in a place of limbo  not quite dead, but not yet accepting the reality that his life is over at 38 years of age, just when he'd started to make a name for himself.
