UNT Fine Arts Series presents Urban Bush Women

Experience African American history and culture through a blend of dance, music and text when the Urban Bush Women visit campus Jan. 30 as part of UNT’s more than 100-year-old Fine Arts Series.

Among the works the Brooklyn-based performance group has been performing this season are a piece referencing the late ’50s film noir television series Naked City; a dance celebrating beauty of all shapes, sizes and shades; and a work invoking the lives of rural African Americans in the South in the ’30s and ’40s, created in honor of the late choreographer and social activist Pearl Primus.

The Denton performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the University Theatre in the Radio, Television, Film and Performing Arts Building. Call the University Union Information Center at 940-565-3805 for ticket information.
