Onstead $2.5 milllion gift leads to renaming UNT visual arts institute

The North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts in the College of Visual Arts and Design has become the Jo Ann "Jody" and Dr. Charles O. Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts and Design in honor of longtime UNT supporters Jo Ann and Charles O. Onstead. A $2.5 million gift from the Dr. Charles & Jo Ann Onstead Foundation will help the institute foster research, support arts and design educators, and collaborate with arts and cultural agencies to advance arts awareness.

In addition to the most recent gift, Charles O. Onstead and the Onstead estate gave more than $1.4 million to seed the institute and to endow the Jo Ann "Jody" and Charles O. Onstead Master Fellows Fund at UNT. Prior gifts also helped create Jody's Fountain and the Onstead Promenade located in UNT's Library Mall.
