New Diversity and Inclusion VP

Joanne WoodardJoanne Woodard, former vice provost for institutional equity and diversity and chief diversity officer at North Carolina State University, was named UNT's new vice president for diversity and inclusion this spring.

Woodard has more than 25 years of experience in higher education. She's also received numerous honors for her diversity work, including two in 2014 – the Leadership in Diversity award from the Triangle Business Journal and the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from Insight into Diversity.

She began her institutional equity and diversity work at North Carolina State in 1997 as the vice provost for equal opportunity and equity. She also was a lecturer in history there and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
