Michael Bogle (’89 M.M., ’00 D.M.A.), Dallas :: was selected as a quarterfinalist for the 2017 Grammy Music Educator Award for his work as professor of commercial music at Cedar Valley College. The award is sponsored by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation. He teaches numerous courses, including jazz piano and commercial composition and orchestration. He plays piano/keyboards and trombone and is a composer and arranger. He has performed around the world and has worked with Tom Jones, Diana Ross and Doc Severinsen. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for his arrangement of Chick Corea's composition Got A Match? recorded by the One O’Clock Lab Band. At UNT, he studied trombone with Vern Kagarice, piano with Steve Harlos and composition with Cindy McTee.
