Mel FinefrockMelissa “Mel” Finefrock, Plano :: has self-published a book entitled Patchwork Poetry, which chronicles her personal journey and covers such themes as love, friendship, pain and growth.

Finefrock, who is blind, has won several awards for her works, including first place in the poetry division of the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities (CTD)'s creative writing contest in 2012 for her poem "Optical Illusions.” She also works as a contracting transcriptionist with Burns Transcription Service; a guest blogger with Disability.gov, The Mighty and the Huffington Post; and an editor for independent authors. She enjoys singing and playing guitar, and her work can be found on YouTube.
