Mark Anthony ‘Tony’ Altermann (’65, ’68 M.S.), Dallas :: He served in the Air Force before attending UNT. He worked as an advertising and publicity specialist with ABC Interstate Motion Picture Theaters before moving to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as division manager for advertising and publicity. He was interested in fine arts and opened Altermann Galleries and Auctioneers in Dallas, Houston, Scottsdale, Phoenix, Jackson Hole, Hilton Head and New York City. He was deeply involved in his community, serving on several boards and charities. He was a member of UNT’s Chilton Society and established the John A. Altermann III and Katherine M. Bradford Scholarship; the Katherine Margaret Altermann Memorial Schlarship Endowment for Theatre Arts; and the Tony and Linda Altermann Scholarship Endowment for Visual Arts. He also served as chair and member of the advisory board for the College of Arts and Sciences. He received the Green Glory Award in 1999 and the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002. Memorials may be made to the Tony and Linda Altermann Scholarship Endowment for Visual Arts.
