Doyle Chrisman

Doyle Chrisman (’41, ’46 M.S.), Denton :: He came to North Texas on a track scholarship and ran in a relay team that won the Lone Star Conference in 1940 and 1941 and set records in the Kansas and Pennsylvania relays. He was inducted into the UNT Athletic Hall of Fame for his track success in 1988. He also was a member of the Geezles and helped dedicate the “Spiriki Eagle” at Apogee Stadium. He taught in Dayton, Port Arthur, Arlington andPanhandle.He taught and coached track in Denton beginning in 1948 and later worked as a principal and personnel director until his retirement in 1981. Chrisman served during World War II and the Korean conflict as a Captain in the Army Air Corps.Chrisman was president of the Denton Kiwanis Club and a member of the Cumberland Children’s Home board of trustees, Retired Teachers Association, Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers, UNT’s Presidents Council, Mean Green Club and Letterman’s Association.
