Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, founders of Vermont's Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., spoke on campus this spring as part of UNT's Distinguished Lecture Series.
The two iconic ice cream makers talked about the startup and success of the company, which is a leader in researching and implementing sustainable dairy farming practices, using alternative energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The company also is a member of the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies.
Cohen and Greenfield launched Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc. in 1978 with an ice cream shop inside a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vt. The company is worth more than $300 million today. After their lecture, the ice cream makers joined audience members for an ice cream party.
