After President Gretchen M. Bataille resigned effective Feb. 28, the UNT System Board of Regents appointed longtime UNT administrator Phil Diebel as interim president. Diebel, former vice president for finance and accounting, will begin March 1 for about 90 days until an longer-term interim president is named. In the coming weeks, the system also will identify the leadership skills and administrative experience that all key UNT constituents want for the next president, said C. Dan Smith, chair of the board, and Lee Jackson, chancellor of the system, in a statement to the university community.
