Adrian CadarAdrian Gabriel Cadar, Nashville :: received his Ph.D. in molecular physiology and biophysics from Vanderbilt University and started medical school there this fall with a full tuition merit scholarship. He studied biology at UNT, researching with Ed Dzialowski, associate professor of biological sciences. At Vanderbilt, he continued his research on the heart and was active in recruiting graduate students for various Ph.D. programs, including the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development program, which led to receiving the 2015 Levi Watkins Jr. M.D. Award for commitment to diversity at Vanderbilt. He also gave the keynote address for the 35th annual League of United Latin American Citizens scholarship banquet for Denton ISD high school students in 2016. While at UNT, he was a member of the McNair Scholars program, the HHMI Undergrad Researchers program and G-Force. His favorite UNT memory is watching the Homecoming Bonfire.
