$1.2 million endowment

A $1.2 million gift from the estate of Jesse Reinburg ('41) enabled the College of Information to create an endowed data sciences professorship. The Reinburg Professorship in Data Sciences will serve the Department of Library and Information Sciences.

Reinburg earned a bachelor's degree in library science and, during World War II, worked with the U.S. Intelligence Department to intercept and decode the message that Japan was planning to bomb Pearl Harbor.

During her career she also worked with the U.S. State Department to establish and manage libraries throughout the world and later worked at Fort Worth's Kimbell Art Museum.

This is the department's third endowed professorship.
