Short film about a University Union custodian makes the film festival rounds

Bobby Lewis ('12 M.F.A.), adjunct instructor of radio, television and film, wanted to make a movie that proves everyone has a story. He found that subject in Earl Thompson, a janitor who works in UNT's University Union.

Alumna's film on immigration is a winning documentary

Sara Masetti's ('13 M.F.A.) film, Undocumented Dreams — made for her master's degree in documentary film production and studies — has earned the Rising Star Award at the Canada International Film Fest in Vancouver and an Award of Merit at the Best Shorts Competition online.

Alum provides sound design for Sundance stand-out film

Ken McGill ('05) worked as a sound designer for the film Blood Brother, a documentary about a man who moves to India to help children with HIV/AIDS. The film won the U.S. Jury Grand Prize and Audience Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

UNT graduate's documentary to appear nationally on PBS

The Revisionaries, a documentary created by University of North Texas graduate Scott Thurman, will air nationally on PBS affiliates on the PBS Independent Lens series. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the film will be shown at 10 p.m. Jan. 29 (Tuesday) on KERA-TV.

John Kolinofsky ('04) is bringing his Hollywood know-how to the North Texas region. The radio/television/film major founded Callidus Agency in Dallas two years ago after working as a talent agent in Los Angeles for seven years.

Alumnus develops Mixeroo, sound and music mixing app

Kirk Wheeler ('93) has used his radio/television/film degree in diverse ways. Wheeler works as an audio engineer who mixes the foreign music and effects for TV shows such as Castle and Once Upon a Time so they can be dubbed internationally.
