The Mean Green men's basketball team opened the 2008-09 season in the Snake Pit Nov. 14 against Cameron.

Although the bleachers on the floor are no longer there, the little gym reverberated with the noise of 1,792 fans.

The Mean Green won the game against the Cameron Aggies 87-66, improving to 16-8 in season openers at the Snake Pit, which was its home from 1950 to 1973.

The Snake Pit's official name is the Ken Bahnsen Gym. It was named in honor of longtime football and tennis coach Bahnsen ('53, '53 M.S.), pictured, left, with head coach Johnny Jones.
