Bonnie Alexander Lesley, Waco, is the new president of Creative Education Institute, a privately owned company that designs and disseminates education solutions for struggling learners. She previously taught or served in administration at schools in El Paso, Waco, Austin, Kansas City and Little Rock, and taught cour-ses at several universities. She also served two years as assistant state superintendent for curriculum and standards in Delaware.

Stuart Van Auken, (’70 Ph.D.), Naples, Fla., holds the rank of Eminent Scholar, Alico Chair and professor of marketing at Florida Gulf Coast University. Last spring he received the university’s Senior Scholarship Excellence Award for lifetime research accomplishment. He was previously a Distinguished Teaching Professor, chair and professor of marketing at the University of Louisville and dean of the College of Business at California State University at Chico. His first teaching assignment after leaving North Texas was at Texas Tech.

'67
Michael Bedford, Tuscola, is retired after 36 years with the IRS and currently has a tax practice in the Abilene area specializing in representation before the IRS. He also has an M.B.A. from the University of Dallas and an M.S. from Abilene Christian University. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity at North Texas. His son is an attorney in Houston and his daughter is a stay-at-home mom in Fayetteville, Ark.

Steve Watson, San Antonio, is in his seventh year as owner and chief instructor of Stone Ridge Martial Arts (SRMA-Kajukenbo) and was promoted to fifth-degree black belt in 2002. In 1998 he retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 30 years of service.
