Della Dalby Icenhower, Mansfield, a retired librarian who earned her library certification as well as her bachelor's degree at North Texas, is the namesake of a new school in the Mansfield ISD. In August the district dedicated the Della Icenhower Intermediate School, located on Webb Ferrell Road in Arlington.

'56
Kent Rylander ('62 M.S.), Junction, has retired as professor of biological sciences at Texas Tech University after 39 years of service. He is the author of The Behavior of Texas Birds and is married to Laura Ronstadt.

'58
Larry McMurtry, Washington, D.C., received an inaugural Texas Literary Hall of Fame award, honoring authors whose work has contributed to the state's literary heritage. The awards are presented by the Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library.
