UNT success “I always say Helen changed my life,” says Susan Kirby (’84). Before she sought Helen Harkness’ help, Kirby was struggling unhappily as an administrative assistant. “I was very undecided about what I wanted to do,” she remembers. She started her career-change process by exploring her strengths and aptitudes. Then she earned a degree in business computer information systems at UNT. It gave her a fresh start. She went to work for Texas Instruments straight out of school. Today she’s a senior technical officer for JP Morgan Chase Bank in Addison. “Helen helped me focus,” Kirby says. She also credits UNT for her success: “North Texas has great tie-ins with the business community. The UNT Career Center is very helpful. All the best firms come for interviews."
