In
2004, UNT will mark the 50th anniversary of its desegregation
with a yearlong observance, 50 Years of Progress
and Opportunity, 1954-2004. Plans include a musical gala,
alumni and Homecoming gatherings, a halftime celebration
at a football game, speakers, exhibitions and an issue
of The North Texan featuring the subject.
We
are working on a web site devoted to the commemoration.
At the site - which will be ready when our fall issue comes
out - you'll be able to find out more about events
planned, sign up for updates, share memories and photos
or suggest names of people you feel should be included
in the observance.
In the meantime, if you were attending North Texas during this time and have
memories to share, we would like to hear from you.
Send
us your memories.
