Maureen Moore, Dallas, was appointed chief counsel of labor and employment for Hanson North America, a division of Heidelberg Cement. She is responsible for all legal matters pertaining to labor, employment, immigration and benefits, and she leads the labor relations team.

Col. Franklin Dolcater, Yukon, Okla., was awarded the Legion of Merit and retired from the Air Force after more than 31 years of service in December. He is now the director of B-1 and B-52 major repair operations at Oklahoma Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base.

*Paula Nichols Cogdell, The Woodlands, was named the executive director of operations for the Marion Franke Team of Keller Williams in Conroe. She was top producer for 2007 as a buyer's agent prior to taking on her new position.

Mark S. Graham, Denton, won the Szymanowski Special Award at the Washington International Piano Artists Competition and Festival of Music in July in Washington, D.C. The award was sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland for the best performance of a Polish composer. Mark studied with Stefan Bardas and Adam Wodnicki.

Randall Ensley, Gales Ferry, Conn., was one of 12 winners of the international Illustrators of the Future contest presented at the 23rd L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards ceremony in August in Pasadena, Calif. The winners, selected along with 12 Writers of the Future by leading authors and artists in science fiction and fantasy, attend a workshop and have their work featured in the book Writers of the Future: Volume 23.

Joe Aguilar, San Antonio, is the owner and publisher of the Westside Sol and the Southside Sol, two community newspapers he created in 2001 in San Antonio. Attending North Texas from 1984 to 1987, he was a member of the Interfraternity Council and vice president of Delta Sigma Phi. He can be reached at joewestsidesol@ sbcglobal.net.

Patty Donaldson, Lufkin, is the new physical education/kinesiology coordinator and instructor at Angelina College in Lufkin.

Alton Scales ('95 M.S.), Breckenridge, Colo., was named dean of the Summit Campuses of the Colorado Mountain College in December. He has 20 years of experience in higher education, including roles at UNT as assistant hall director, director of intercultural services and special assistant to the associate vice president for student affairs.

Richard B. Thomas (M.M.), Lauren S.C., is assistant professor of music and coordinator for string studies at Presbyterian College in South Carolina. During the summers he is string department head and chamber music coordinator at Camp Encore-Coda in Sweden, Maine.

Jeff Pilchiek (M.Ed.), Austin, is director of guidance and career counseling at Westlake High School in Austin and serves as president of the Eanes Association of Texas Professional Educators. Previously, he was a counselor in Highland Park for several years.

*Don Hil ('92 M.B.A.), Dallas, was elected a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation for outstanding professional achievements and commitment to the improvement of the Texas justice system. A founding partner in the law firm of Rowlett Hill LLP, he lives in Dallas with his wife, Deborah.

Randy Oakes, Rowlett, has created a service called Textback that helps students ensure they are buying the correct textbooks when they purchase them online. The service allows users to text the ISBN numbers of books, which are then stored on the Textback web site in a mobile cart to be purchased from Amazon Market Place. A return text confirms the title and online pricing.
