Duke Horn, Dallas, career artist and designer, produced with partner Silvia Thornton the largest hand-painted automotive mural in the Southwest at AER Manufacturing in Carrollton. The 5200-square-foot mural, which was unveiled in 1996, is open to the general public during business hours at 1605 Surveyor Boulevard in Carrollton.

Clifton L. Johnson, Los Angeles, has been named vice president and senior relationship manager with Union Bank of California. Based in Beverly Hills, he will handle wealth management services for the African American market in the Los Angeles area.

John Shirley (M.Ed.), Richardson, was appointed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry to the State Board for Educator Certification in October. He is an elementary school counselor at Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School in Dallas and serves as Texas Counseling Association-Region IV director. In 2002 he was named Texas Outstanding Counselor by the association.
