Ronald High
, Columbia, S.C., received a Senior Fulbright Scholar Award for spring 2005. He was in residence as a guest lecturer, voice teacher and performer at the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany. He presented master classes, lectures and a solo recital titled "Songs From the Soul." He also was a featured soloist for the Fulbright gala concert in Berlin in March.

Vicki Green Johnston (M.Ed.), Dallas, former director of counseling services for the Dallas ISD, received the presidential award from the Texas Counseling Association in November 2004 for her contribution to the profession of school counseling.

('80 M.A.), Dallas, has been hired by Lifetouch Publishing Inc. as its creative and educational consultant, working with staffs nationally as well as speaking at state and local conventions. She created its yearbook curriculum, The Program Works, and has co-written another journalism textbook. For 33 years she was a yearbook and newspaper adviser at high schools and at SMU.

Katherine Keyes
(M.M.), New York, who attended North Texas as Susan K. Schafer, was a semi-finalist at the third international art song competition of the Yrjö Kilpinen Society of North America in April. She is a mezzo-soprano who has performed in opera and concert in the New York area, including Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme on Broadway and the New York City Opera.

Jay G. Gosdin (M.Ed.), Irving, was promoted to associate director-training support in the SBC Communications National Training Organization. He is responsible for all training capital expenditures and accelerated learning programs for the union members and leads the state funding grants for SBC's training of employees.

Joanne Buzzo Wilhelm, Nashua, N.H., has built a business teaching others how to prepare meals using the Pampered Chef's kitchen tool line and hiring and coaching new consultants. This is her 13th year with the company and the 12th year she has earned TPC, a top award. She and her husband, Bruce, who have been married for 32 years, have two children, Matt, 23, and Eleesha, 17.

Thomas P. Barton, Dallas, and his wife, Edy, have opened a health food store called Perfect Balance Organics in Weeki Wachee, Fla. He is the former president of AT&T Employees Credit Union in Dallas.

Kim Martin Long ('86 M.A., '93 Ph.D.), Shippensburg, Pa., was promoted to full professor of English at Shippensburg University after 10 years of service.

Sue Purdy Newby and Keith Newby ('80), Fort Worth, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in May. Sue has been employed by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital for 15 years, and Keith has worked for UPS for five years. They have three Dalmatians: Darby, Ginny and Emmitt.

Mehdi Amini (M.B.A.), Germantown, Tenn., received a research investment fund grant from the University of Memphis FedEx Institute of Technology for his research on the use of radio frequency identification technology in healthcare settings. He is a professor of supply chain management at the university and associate director of the FedEx Center for Supply Chain Management at the institute.

Edward Hersh (M.S.), Pearland, has been appointed director of parks and recreation for the city of Alvin.
