Commemorative book celebrates UNT

Independent, Original and Progressive: Celebrating 125 Years of UNTA new commemorative book, Independent, Original and Progressive: Celebrating 125 Years of UNT, will be available for purchase in mid-April. Covering quirky as well as traditional tales that make up the history of UNT, the book was edited by Morgan Gieringer, head of the UNT libraries' special collections department. It includes expanded content from the department's 125th anniversary blog and new material, illustrated with photography, clippings and images from university archives.

A free reception celebrates the launch of the book from 6 to 8 p.m. April 12 in The Forum on the first floor of Willis Library. It will feature a series of live readings and short lectures on UNT culture and history, and a performance by Brave Combo, a Grammy-winning band whose UNT roots are featured in the book.
